The emphasis of this workshop will be on the fundamentals of drawing, perspective, design and composition, contrast, basic watercolor washes and mixtures, color relationships, and value and color studies from photos and life. We’ll explore how to simplify what we see in front of us, as well as how mood, atmosphere and story can bring more meaning to your painting.
I will start and end each day with a demonstration on a different subject related to the day’s focus. You can join in and paint along with me or simply watch and listen. I’ll discuss the materials I’m using and explain my thought process as I paint. Questions are encouraged — they keep me awake, so speak up!
There will be plenty of one-on-one guidance, along with a daily question-and-answer session and class critique at the end of each day.
Great paintings are the result of great drawings!
