Join award-winning artist Roberta Dyer of San Diego for a two-day workshop in celebration of abstraction. On the first day, Roberta will present students with a variety of materials for mark making and exercises encouraging material experimentation and exploration. Students will move into a finished piece by editing, designing, considering concept and using collage and painting to find a resolution. On the second day, students will move towards abstraction by working with a live figure model to generate sketches and form. Students will “activate” a larger surface using marks, collage, painting and use an expressive drawing to create an abstract or abstract figurative work. Throughout the two-day session, Roberta will demo utilizing various tools and expressive drawing to loosen up through intuitive drawing exercises and provide feedback to students.
